You can use these pages almost everywhere.
Advantage#
Splash pages have the advantage of an usually very high CTR. (Click-Through-Rate)
That means, most of the people who "land" on this page will actually "click through" to the sales page, cookied with your affiliate link so you get full credit for any funnel sales you generate.
Disadvantage#
The biggest downside of using splash pages is that you don't capture your traffic's information.
This is really a huge problem, as you won't be able to follow-up with your traffic.
But, you can "overcome" this problem by working with an offer that allows you to get full access your clients' data.
